In case you’re curious about the writer of the musings on this site, here’s a little bit about me…

My name is Rebekah, and I am blessed to share life with the most kind and compassionate man, my beloved husband, Jarred Ryan. We live in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Western North Carolina in Haywood County on a peaceful homestead, nestled outside the quaint town of Waynesville and about a half hour from the eclectic city of Asheville. We share our homestead with three adopted fur babies: Sophie, our darling Bernedoodle, and two adorable barn kitties, Clive and Tasha (who give my allergies a run for their money — but I adore them utterly!) and many beautiful wildlife friends. Country living is the best kind of living for me!

Jarred and I married in 2015 after having met through an online dating service. If you had told either of us years ago we’d meet our spouse that way, we would have laughed in disbelief! But because of that dating site, we were able to connect while I was living in the Northeast and he was building a life in Asheville, NC. We most likely wouldn’t have met any other way. After dating for a year and a half, we were married after being engaged for just two months. (Jarred asked me to marry him at the North Carolina Arboretum on Christmas Eve, in the exact spot he was standing when we had our very first phone date — it was so intentional, meaningful and quietly romantic.) We were both in our mid-late 30’s when we married, and have been navigating a long, tumultuous, heartbreaking journey of trying to expand our family and have “angel babies” in Heaven, whom we cannot wait to meet! If you have walked through infertility and/or miscarriage, please know our hearts are with you. It’s a gut-wrenching journey… Still, we maintain hope of one day holding our own little ones. We’ll hold that hope out for you as well.

In the midst of hardship, a dream that brings us great joy is finally forming on our horizon —

We are beginning to turn the large front field of our homestead into a small floral farm, incorporating flowers into modalities which support inner healing and encourage creativity and connection with nature and one’s own heart. Our private, guided one-on-one and group art therapy sessions are being formed now. Flowers have ministered to me in countless ways, and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to explore them further and share their gifts with our community. Stay tuned for more exciting updates and follow along with us as we work our way toward the unfolding of this beautiful dream!

So why am I blogging?

Ten years ago, I took what I hoped would be a short medical leave from my thriving corporate career in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction Industry, but was inevitably launched on an entirely different life path as I navigated a “new normal”. Photography, painting, floral farming + design, creative writing, cooking, and composing music are all art forms I explore as a means of expression and work. Blogging offers a space in which to share the lessons I am learning as I delve into the wonder and mystery of Life as I am experiencing it, with the hope others might find solace, encouragement, humor or an open, understanding heart who truly wants to connect through shared experience, right where we’re at in the middle of our own journeys.

I sure hope you’ll give this page a follow, share it with those you care about and contribute your own thoughts to the conversation.

Rebekah

  2. I came over the Capsule Wardrobe Collective group after seeing your post about your recent trip to Paris. I love this. I am on my own healing journey (a bit later in life, but doing the work, nevertheless). How does anyone do this without Jesus? ❤ Looking forward to reading more of your heart-writings. God bless you. ❤
